"Suspicious fracture" is a very difficult problem that clinicians often encounter. Sometimes, despite repeated explanations to patients, many patients still find it difficult to understand. Instead, they complain that doctors can't make a definite diagnosis, spend too much money, and even doubt their ability and level. The doctor was wronged.

Originally, under certain special conditions, if the traumatic violence is not strong enough and the strength and toughness of the bone is good, the external force can cause a very slight fracture of the skeleton, which appears to be blurred on the X-ray film.

Suspicious fractures generally need to be treated in accordance with the fracture, that is, splints, plaster, braces or other fixed measures are needed to brake. Generally, patients are required to return to the hospital for X-ray photography in a week. If there is a fracture, the bone on both sides of the fracture line will be absorbed a week later. When X-ray is taken again, the fracture line may be displayed, thus definite diagnosis can be made. Of course, if the fracture line is still not shown, the possibility of no fracture is greater, at this time the vast majority of patients can be "liberated".

No fracture? Wasn't the money wasted?

Most patients will be very happy and relieved when they are "liberated". But there are also some patients who think otherwise that they are "very wronged", "suffering in vain", "spending more money" and "overtreating" and so on. In fact, when a suspicious fracture occurs, the injury of soft tissue is often more serious. Fixed rest is of great benefit to the repair of soft tissue injury. If a ligament sprain or muscle strain is identified, fixation for one week is not enough, and it may need to be fixed for three to four weeks.

Visible, suspicious fracture is: suspected fracture, but not immediately sure, although there is no possibility of fracture, but must be treated according to the fracture, in order to prevent "missed diagnosis".

Summary: Suspicious fractures, indicating that the fracture line is not obvious, in order to make a definite diagnosis, it is generally recommended that further CT or MRI examinations, or plaster fixation for 1-2 weeks and re-examination. This fracture is relatively stable and usually does not show significant displacement. However, if the fracture is subjected to external force before healing, it is easy to aggravate the displacement of the fracture, so care should be taken to protect it and not be taken lightly.
